Thanks to Gary (N2WGR EC Kings County) for putting together Kings County's 1st annual picnic! It was held this year at Prospect Park in Brooklyn near the Picnic House. As evidenced by some of these photos, it was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Some of us brought our Wives and children, a few brought their pets and we all brought our radios! Yigal, (K2EFG) even brought his HF gear along with his "budipole" and "Ultimax 100" antennas and we all had a chance to play a bit.
Kings County ARES hosted a SKYWARN certification class on Wednesday evening June 8th, at Brookdale University Hospital in Brooklyn, The training session covered fundamental information that every spotter needs to know, with a focus on safety, identification of key weather features and proper reporting procedures.
The 5K Run/Walk for Israel was begun in 2002 by the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates Coalition for Israel Action, Queens, New York. It was first begun during Israel’s first intifada, the committee’s goals continue to be to raise consciousness and funds for the assistance of Israeli terror victims
More than 27,000 runners raced 13.1 miles through New York’s most buzzed-about borough to cross the finish line at the largest half-marathon in the country—The iconic course takes runners from the Brooklyn Museum, through Prospect Park, to the Coney Island boardwalk. It’s no wonder this is Kings County's Premier event of the year!
